Junk Software: Look in your system file for any files marked as “Startup Documents” or “Control Panel Documents.” These types of files load into memory along with the system software and change things about how the Mac operates. They can do many things, from placing a clock on the menu bar to adding spell checking as you type. Some of these files do not get along with one another. Look for these files and see if there is one you added right before you began having trouble. Check your original Apple disks and remove any of these files that did not come on this disk and see if this clears up the trouble. If you need any of the ones you took out, add them back one by one and see if the trouble begins again. These files load at startup time and you must restart for any changes to take effect.
